It is a true privilege to help people build their dream home.

“I started my journey with the company 10 years ago as a Project Coordinator which is the team that is the conduit between the customer and on-site teams. I gained a thorough knowledge of the building processes, codes and project milestones. After three years I was given the opportunity to work as Sales Coordinator. I’ve been in my current role as a House and Land Estimator for five and a half years now managing our document templates for our Tender, Scope of Works and Consolidated Tender documents that are presented to our clients. The role can be challenging as it’s important to produce documents to a high standard but the interaction with my colleagues makes each day enjoyable as we collaborative to find better ways to meet the needs of our customers.”

Technical

There are multiple phases of a residential project and Estimators, Drafters, Detail Drafters and Inspectors all work together to ensure we not only meet government regulations and legislative requirements, but that we can deliver a design that meets our customer’s brief and budget.

As an Estimator, you collect and analyse the information necessary for estimating construction materials, labour, time, and cost in the preparation of tender documentation. Estimators enjoy precise work involving a high attention to detail. They work towards ensuring we can present a package to our clients that meets their budget and aligns to their brief. Estimators collaborate closely with our sales teams, project delivery teams and other internal stakeholders.

Our diverse Drafting teams focus on producing design concept drawings, modifications and accurate plans using ArchiCAD or our own in-house computer aided design systems, that not only comply with Building Standards and company building policies but also win State and National design awards. Drafters in our teams have great communication skills, a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce drawings that not only comply with complex codes and standards but also meet the customer brief.

Other technical careers paths include Product Development, Town Planners, Compliance and Permits.

Construction

A Site Supervisor/Manager is essentially in overall control of multiple single detached homes across a region or a multi residential (medium density/low rise) project. They oversee operational activities for each project and are responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all personnel on site (subcontractors, trades, and vendors). More senior roles include Area Managers and Construction Managers. Other teams in construction include new home Handover, Service & Warranty, and Leadership.

What you need: Typically, you would need to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship to get the necessary trade qualifications. To move into a management role, you will need five to ten years work experience on site, however a bachelor's degree (construction management) combined with hands on experience in other disciplines like project co-ordination, estimating or drafting could qualify you for this highly rewarding career path.

I love to combine technical and practical skills.

“I’ve always had a passion for construction growing up. When I finished school, I studied a Bachelor of Construction Management and shortly after I was given an opportunity to join the company on their first Construction Cadet program. The program went for one year and gave me the technical skills and practical tools, and resources to progress my career to where it is today. I have now been a Construction Supervisor for the last five years overseeing the successful delivery of detached single dwelling homes on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. The best part of my role is meeting with the client at the end of the build. When you present them with the finished product and the home they have been dreaming of and saving for becomes a reality, you can really feel the appreciation and excitement.”
