One of Adelaide’s favourite home builders, Weeks Homes has partnered with Adelaide charity SYC and their HYPA housing program to transform townhouse block in Mansfield Park.
Weeks Homes has donated $40,000 via their charitable foundation to fund the works.
More than 30 Weeks Staff are participating in the working bee on Friday 10 May which will completely revitalise the grounds of the complex.
Weeks CEO Peter McIndoe praised the partnership between Weeks and SYC.
“In the lead up to today’s working bee the SYC team have been onsite this week removing all the existing vegetation which had potential to become a hazard if not removed. They have also excavated concrete areas in readiness for the landscaping which starts today.”
“It has been great to see not only the enthusiasm of our staff for this project but also the multiple suppliers and trades who have donated their services.”
“Our display home landscapers, Pro Cut Lawns have donated all their time and sourced all the plants and ground coverings for the project, a small business making a big difference,” Peter added.
The SYC complex at Mansfield Park provides transitional living solutions for 16 to 18 year olds. These young people have never lived in family units and are exiting government / protective care. Each tenant is supported to engage in at least 15 hours per week of study or work and is guaranteed affordable rent.
The residences provided by SYC’s HYPA program serves as a halfway point to ensure residents are taught the appropriate life skills to succeed independently.
Along with the beautification of the grounds around the eight units, Weeks will also be constructing an alfresco dining area complete with BBQ and furniture, which will be used by SYC staff to hold weekly cooking programs and allow residents to meet on a regular basis. A raised vegetable garden will also be installed to provide food for the weekly cook-ups.
Weeks Homes would like to acknowledge the following businesses who have either donated or provided products at significant discounts.
